Electrify Vermont Summit: Vermont’s State of Energy

In April 2026, REVEF partnered with Burlington Electric Department and the University of Vermont to present the Second Annual Electrify Vermont Summit.

As a kickoff to UVM’s Research Week and a follow-up to the previous year’s successful inaugural event, over 150 researchers, installers, policymakers, businesses, nonprofits, utilities, and students gathered to discuss the electrification of Vermont’s economy. Attendees heard from experts on electrification strategies and policies, with a focus on affordability, resilience, and regulation, and networked with leaders of the electrification effort in Vermont. Highlights included a keynote presentation from energy thought leader Jigar Shah, remarks from the Vermont Department of Public Service Commissioner Kerrick Johnson, and a student poster presentation from CREATE, UVM’s Center for Resilient Energy & Autonomous Technologies in Engineering.

SUN Day

In September 2025, REVEF hosted SunDay, Bill McKibben’s global day of action celebrating solar energy. Thanks to generous support from Hula and ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, families were invited to ECHO’s Hoehl Park for a free carnival featuring face painting, live music, a visit from Burlington Electric Department’s electric bucket truck, demos from VEEP, and other hands-on activities designed to explore renewable energy. Children built solar-powered race cars, charted the movement of the sun with solar trackers, enjoyed popsicles from a freezer powered by a portable solar panel, and learned about the science of harnessing the sun’s power.
